Porshia Cunningham, LMFT, has been practicing therapy since 2012. Focused on new parents and budding blended families, she established Rooted Therapy as a safe space for families to grow together. Rooted Therapy was named as a metaphor for families and relationships, as a gardener must learn what their plant needs and what conditions influence its growth and ability to thrive. Porshia will explore what unique strengths and needs your family has and will collaboratively provide each person with the tools they need to build themselves.
When we know better, we do better, because most of the time we are doing the best we can with the tools we have. However, it is never too late to acquire more tools and resources, to explore ourselves and grow into who we believe we can become, and to show up as our authentic selves.
In her academic career, Porshia has been an advocate of social issues for more than 15 years. With a passion for the voices of those less heard, paired with her experience as a professor, she incorporates her beliefs about equality and compassion into her practice at Rooted Therapy. As a lifelong learner, she continues to give back to her academic family and invest in her community through volunteer work, publications, and public speaking.
